Multi Family – The Bridges

South16, an apartment building in Roanoke, hired CIRCLE to design and furnish the clubhouse and leasing office for its newest location called “The Bridges,” located in the historic Roanoke River and Railroad District.

The interior spaces needed to be hip and vibrant to attract its ideal residents – students enrolled in Virginia Tech’s medical program at the satellite campus near Downtown Roanoke. Due to the aggressive construction schedule posed by the developer, another challenge was to specify furniture that could arrive on-site within two months.

With time constraints limiting the furniture options and available fabric selections, we selected a new paint scheme to coordinate with the new furniture – a vibrant mixture of purple and grays that compliment the South16 logo and printed promotional material.

As part of a strategy to provide maintenance-friendly furnishings, several tables were a blend of durable-friendly reclaimed wood with industrial fittings. The area rugs over stained concrete were changeable carpet tiles with a colorful, striated pattern.
The design was rounded out by a custom art package by a local artist, which included original paintings of several Roanoke landmarks. The result is a youthful and lively space to match the overall feel of The Bridges’ modern architecture, which is breathing new life into this vacated industrial site.
