Goodview Lakehouse

These empty-nester clients wanted a serene design with pops of color for their new construction home on Smith Mountain Lake. She hired CIRCLE after construction was underway to revise interior floor plans for the kitchen, great room, and master bedroom suite to provide more functional entertainment space and to take advantage of lake views throughout the home.

The challenge was to revise these plans in a way that better reflected her desires but would also not impact load-bearing walls and rough-in locations of plumbing.

We designed the fireplace in the great room in an asymmetrical arrangement with an entertainment center and added bench height cabinets for extra seating for entertaining. By shrinking the breakfast nook, we reconfigured the kitchen layout to give the client the view of the lake from the cooktop she so desperately wanted.

In the master suite, we reversed the bed wall so that the homeowners could face a view of the lake. This allowed for a complete overhaul of the original bathroom and closet space. The vanities were combined into a trough sink that became the focal wall centered on the bathroom door, with a separate “hers” vanity near the dressing room style closet.

FEEDBACK FROM THE HOMEOWNER

“I can’t say enough good things about Circle Design Studio. I hired them after our design/build project had begun. They worked well with the architect/builder, providing him with all drawings, elevations, and source lists he required. Theresa had a quick, intuitive grasp on my style and created a beautiful living space for our lake house with our needs, requirements, and desires in mind. I feel that Circle Design goes above and beyond the scope of the project in order to ensure that the customer is pleased. I highly recommend Circle Design Studio.”
